As a household appliance, air conditioners have become a common necessity for residents. Over the past forty years, China's air conditioner industry has experienced rapid growth and stable development driven by the increasing demand and policy incentives. In 2021, the total output reached 21.836 million units, with domestic sales reaching 46.89 million units. Air conditioners have transitioned from being high-energy-consuming luxury items to optional durable consumer goods and now to essential durable consumer goods. With the easing of the pandemic and the continuous recovery of China's economy, there is greater potential for upgraded consumer demand for air conditioners. The domestic production of air conditioner chips is urgently needed.
Air conditioner chips can be divided into two main categories: IPM modules and MCU chips. Variable-frequency household appliance chips can be divided into four major modules, including variable-frequency power, power management, main controllers, and communication sensors. The cost of the overall chip in variable-frequency household appliances accounts for about 10% to 15%. Variable-frequency air conditioners require control over the variable-frequency compressor, DC fan, PFC module, and communication intelligence module. The main chips include MCU control solution chips, compressor PM chips, fan IPM chips, DCDC/LDO chips, power switch chips, Hall sensor chips, PFC-related chips (PFC driver chips, IGBT, ERD), WIEI communication chips, buzzer driver chips, audio driver chips, and others.
